The Story of Rae Carruth’s Conviction
Carruth’s first baby mom, Michelle Wright, had a tumultuous connection with him. While the former NFL star was in his second year at Colorado, she gave birth to his son, Raelondo. He was said to be an absent parent, and Wright even sued him for child support. Later, the two came to the conclusion that he would pay $2,700 in child support and be a better parent. Carruth afterward began an affair with Cherica Adams. She, like Wright, was pregnant with his kid.
When she was eight months pregnant, their relationship deteriorated. On November 16, 1999, Carruth and Adams went to the theater. They returned in two automobiles. Minutes after parting, Adams was shot four times. She called 911 despite her injuries and blamed her baby daddy. She said he stopped in front of her car before she was shot.
Rae had an emergency cesarean to deliver baby Chancellor after the report.
Chancellor survived cerebral palsy and cognitive impairment. Adams’ injuries killed her. Carruth had a $3 million bond after the incident. After a nationwide search, Carruth was caught in 1999.
He hid in a car’s trunk at a Tennessee Best Western. The trial revealed he paid Watkins to kill his baby mom because she refused an abortion. The former player was convicted of murder conspiracy, shooting into occupied premises, and trying to kill an unborn child two years later. He was acquitted of first-degree murder and sentenced to 18 to 24 years in jail. He was released on October 22, 2018.

Carruth relocated to Pennsylvania with a buddy after being released from prison. According to reports, he is now working from home and is a different guy. He also wants to re-establish contact with his son. He gave substantial sums of money to Chancellor and Adam’s mother, Saundra, in 2019.
Saundra, who raised Chancellor after her daughter was killed, had no idea where the money came from at first since it was an anonymous cheque. However, she subsequently discovered that it had been sent by Carruth. The ex-NFL player has not acknowledged Adam’s murder, but he has admitted to feeling guilty for everything. Despite everything, Saundra has forgiven Carruth and the other conspirator. Chancellor is also doing well. Despite the fact that he has a life-long ailment, he has moved on and succeeded in life. In 2021, he graduated from high school and moved in with his grandma.
