Tanner graduated college in 2000 and started working at Merrill Lynch in New York. From there, he was Vice President of the Media and Entertainment Department of Morgan Joseph & Co. Inc. for six years. Joyce left Morgan Joseph & Co., Inc. in 2009 to create a successful Korean Barbeque Restaurant. He opened three more in the years that followed.
During the business, he found he preferred eating to preparing food. He built a Vine account to entertain people, which sparked his interest in social media.
