Phil Heath began the bodybuilding industry in 2002. In 2005, he won a championship at the ‘National Physique Committee’ and gained the ability to participate in an IFBB Pro after three years. In 2006, he won the Colorado Pro Championship and the New York Pro Championship. Phil was eligible to participate in the 2007 Mr. Olympia event 2007, but he opted not to compete because he needed more time to improve his form.

He won the “Iron Man” competition in 2008. In 2008, he made his Mr. Olympia debut and finished in third place. Due to a gastrointestinal ailment, he finished sixth in the tournament in 2009.
