Peter Cooper, a well-known musician, and writer died on Tuesday, December 6, at the age of 52. He died as a result of complications from a brain injury received in a car accident last week. His family announced the news on social media, stating he died in his sleep:
“We are grateful for your warm remarks and prayers over the last several days. Please know that they have brought Peter and us much comfort. We will shortly release specifics regarding a life celebration in early 2023.”
Peter showed no indications of recovery after the tragedy. The visitors, on the other hand, said that he was reacting to the care he got. Instead of flowers, Cooper’s friends may donate to the Baker Cooper fund. The money raised will be donated to the Hall of Fame and Museum and used to assist Cooper’s kid to further his education.
So sad to hear of the passing of my friend, Peter Cooper @countrymusichof. Peter opened shows for me in the early 2000’s. He was a tremendous journalist, singer and songwriter. One of my biggest advocates always. Peter will be sorely missed. 🙏🏼 https://t.co/Je62kwCMME

Before venturing into the world of music, Peter Cooper studied journalism.
Although Peter Cooper’s exact birth date is uncertain, he was born in South Carolina and attended school in Washington, DC. He began his career as a journalist before deciding to pursue a career in music. Until 2014, Peter handled everything connected to the music business for the Tennessee newspaper. His superiors and coworkers liked his writing style. He later received recognition for his work at the Country Music Hall of Fame, where he worked in various departments and actively participated in their events.
He worked with various musicians and published albums such as The Lloyd Green Album, The Master Sessions, and others as a musician. The albums garnered great feedback from critics and fans alike. He rose to prominence after collaborating on two albums with Eric Brace. Cooper graduated from the Tom T. Hall School of Damn Good Songwriting with the Mission Door diploma. After quitting his employment at a Tennessee newspaper, he joined Todd Snider’s band, and the ensemble played on many occasions. He had a brief writing career, publishing Johnny’s Cash & Charley’s Pride: Lasting Legends and Untold Adventures in Country Music. Cooper was regarded as a modern-day Renaissance guy by Bob Edwards.
Nashville Arts & Entertainment Magazine named him one of the ten most interesting people. Peter Cooper has performed as a solo artist and with his band all over the globe. He also served as a senior music journalist for Nashville’s The Tennessean and as a senior professor at Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music. Despite his celebrity, he did not have a Wikipedia page, therefore much information on his career is unavailable. Peter Cooper’s ex-wives Charlotte, father Wiley Cooper, stepfather Al Smuzynski, stepmother Emily Cooper, brother Chris Cooper, sister-in-law Jessie Swigger, nephew Jack Cooper, and niece Madeline Cooper are among his survivors.
