Career
Bure started his professional career with the Central Red Army. In September 1987, he made his debut. After his first complete season, he was named Soviet National Rookie of the Year. The Vancouver Canucks picked Bure 113th overall in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. His international career took off as well, as he competed in three World Junior Championships, capturing gold in 1989 and silver the following two years.
His leadership and playing ability helped the Canucks reach the 1994 Stanley Cup final when they were defeated by the New York Rangers.
