Stanley was a part of the neighborhood bands Rainbow, Uncle Joe, and Post-War Baby Boom before joining Kiss. Then he joined Gene Simmon’s Vicious Lester ensemble. Later that year, in 1973, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley joined, and the trio was christened Kiss. Face makeup and performance costumes are famous features of the American rock ensemble. Fire-inhaling, blood-spitting, burning instruments, firing missiles, levitating percussion sets, and fireworks propelled the band to prominence in the mid-to-late 1970s.
Stanley and Simmons are the only founding members still alive, as the band’s makeup has changed several times over the years. Kiss, Destroyer, Monsters of the Night, Vengeance, and Love Gun are some of the band’s most famous songs. Stanley’s Kiss character is “The Starchild,” and he wears one star over his right eye.
