From 2000 to 2007, Paul played club owner Peter “Beansie” Gaeta on The Sopranos. The actress appeared in five episodes of the show, the most recent being the 2007 episode Remember When. Paul, who was born in Brooklyn in 1946, began his acting career in 1982 with the film Dear Mr. Wonderful, in which he co-starred with Joe Pesci and Karen Ludwig.

The 5 Management Company issued a statement in response to Paul’s death.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Paul Herman,” it said. On and off the screen, he is a true character.
“He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, and we will never forget the sound of his laughter and his fearless spirit.” We ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this time.” The actor was set to appear in Street Justice, which is currently in pre-production.
