Patty Loveless was born Patricia Lee Ramey on January 4, 1957. She was born in the Kentucky town of Pikeville. Despite this, she grew up in both Elkhorn City and Louisville, Kentucky. Naomi and John Ramey, her parents, died in 2006 and 1979, respectively. Her father worked in the coal mines.
