Altschul, a former Goldman Sachs partner, and prominent art collector and philanthropist. Mrs. Altschul has served as president or trustee of several non-profit organizations, including the New-York Historical Society and Historic Hudson Valley (the Rockefeller Family properties).

Altschul was named Woman of the Year by the Police Athletic League of New York City in 2012. She received a Carolopolis Award from the Preservation Society of Charleston in 2013 for her renovation of the historic Isaac Jenkins Mikell House in Charleston.
