Career

Boone used to sing in Centennial Park in Nashville during his early career. In 1954, he signed with Republic Records and began recording music for them. Dot Records signed him one year later.

When his rendition of Fat Domino’s “Ain’t That a Shame” became popular, he rose to fame. He would then continue to cover songs by black R&B singers for most white Americans.

The cover of “I Almost Lost My Mind” was one of Boone’s biggest hits. Only Elvis Presley was more famous. Boone went on to become one of the most well-known celebrities of the 1950s, signing numerous product endorsements. The majority of his songs were covers of songs by black artists.

He was a devout Christian, and his professional choices reflected that. Due to his conservatism, Boone declined an offer to co-star with Marilyn Monroe. Later, his conservatism would lead him to support Republicans, as he was a believer in Obama-related conspiracy theories.

He also appeared in films such as God’s Not Dead 2, The Greatest Story Ever Told, and Journey to the Center of the Earth. These turned out to be some of his most profitable ventures.

Pat Boone Wife, Marriage

Pat Boone married Shirley Lee Foley one year after graduating from high school, on a November day in 1953. Shirley was the daughter of Red Foley and Judy Martin, both of whom were musicians: Red Foley was a country singer, and Judy Martin was a singer.

When Foley and Boone married, they were 19 years old. Their marriage has seen its fair share of ups and downs. Boone revealed that his marriage to Foley had ended in divorce in the 1960s due to his alcoholism and penchant for parties. Foley, on the other hand, became acquainted with the Charismatic Movement, which allowed her to become more focused on her religion. She was able to persuade Pat and her four daughters to follow suit.

Shirley was also a recording artist and television personality, though she was less well-known than her husband. She died of vasculitis in 2019 at the age of 84.
