From 2006 to 2014, he worked with NK Omladinac Vranjic and Hajduk Split to improve his skills. Niko began his professional career with the latter, but in 2017, he moved to England to play for Everton FC. The young player had a rough start in the Premier League, so he moved on loan to Russian club CSKA Moscow in the middle of his first season to improve his chances of making the first team. The attacking midfielder quickly got used to his new team, CSKA, and went on to score 51 goals and make 108 assists in 108 games.
