Nikki Sixx slammed Pearl Jam singer-guitarist Eddie Vedder over statements he made during a recent interview. The verbal brawl began when Vedder, in a New York Times article published on January 30, recounted working at a San Diego club in the 1980s, when he assisted in loading in the band’s gear at the height of glam metal. In reference to Mötley Crüe, he said that he “despised” the band, even labeling it “vacuous.”
“I’d wind myself at gigs I wouldn’t have chosen to go — bands that dominated late-’80s MTV.” The metal bands that, to be polite, I disliked. F*ck you, ‘Girls, Girls, Girls,’ and Mötley Crüe. I despised it. I didn’t like how it made the guys appear. I despised the way it made the ladies seem. It felt so empty.”
On February 4, Mötley Crüe songwriter and bassist Nikki Sixx moved to Twitter to share his thoughts on Vedder’s remark. He responded to the Society singer’s slam with an even harsher slam, calling Pearl Jam “one of the most boring bands in history” and claiming that they took Vedder’s statements as praises.

Furthermore, during his interview with the publication, Vedder said that Guns N’ Roses gave “some fangs” to the pre-grunge period, making a humorous allusion to Heather Locklear (ex-wife of Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee). He noted that the only person who wore a bustier in the ’90s that he could respect was Perry Farrell.
Eddie Vedder and Nikki Sixx may cross paths in the future.
According to Rolling Stone, Nikki Sixx and Eddie Vedder are unlikely to cross paths anytime soon, given Vedder has recently begun a solo tour while Mötley Crüe and Poison have just begun a long-awaited stadium tour, which was postponed due to Covid-19.
Mötley Crüe’s complete repertoire was believed to have been sold to BMG for £112 million ($151 million) in December 2021, while other reports indicate that the cost was “much lower.” The band said in a joint statement about the sale that it feels “amazing” to work with BMG and that their extensive track record will help them stay at the top. Vedder and his band, the Earthlings, have begun a three-week engagement at New York City’s Beacon Theater. For the first time in fifteen years, the band performed several covers and deep Pearl Jam tunes, like Dirty Frank.
