Career
Nicola Adams had her first fight when she was 13 years old. She was the first female boxer to represent her nation in England team camp in 2001. She won the first English amateur champion in 2003 and went on to win the following three titles. Adams became the first female boxer to defend her Olympic championship in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, after winning her first gold medal in London in 2012. At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Adams knocked out Michaela Walsh of Northern Ireland and won gold in the women’s flyweight event by a split decision.
On January 23, 2017, she signed with promoter Frank Warren and made her professional debut with a 40-36 points win against Virginia Carcamo of Argentina. Finally, as an unbeaten champion, she announced her retirement from professional boxing in November 2019.
