NewJeans, a K-pop rookie group, has smashed yet another record. ‘New Jeans,’ the group’s self-titled first album, sold over 260,000 copies in one day. This is the first-day sales of any debut album published since September 2019. Aside from enormous fan love for their debut, the trio also charted high on many local and international charts, receiving considerable notice. The album was also the third debut album by a female group to have the most first-week sales on Hanteo, having surged to the top on the first day of its release. NewJeans’ first album was published digitally on August 1, with the physical CD following on August 8.
NewJeans’ album pre-order volume hit over 444,000 copies in four days, according to the group’s label ADOR, the biggest reported sales volume for a K-pop girl group debut album in history.
