Neil Peart Biography
Neil Ellwood Peart was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on September 12, 1952. Glen Peart is his father, and Betty Peart is his mother. Neil Peart has two sisters, Nancy Peart and Judy Peart, and one brother, Danny Peart.
Neil Peart was born and raised in various locations throughout Ontario, and he attended Lakeport High School. He began with piano lessons and then moved on to drums. He began taking drum lessons at the age of 13, purchased a kit at the age of 14, and enrolled in classes at the Peninsula Conservatory of Music.

Career
Neil Peart began performing at his high school with a band he had formed at the time. He was having difficulty establishing a successful career in Canada, so he decided to relocate to London and see how things went.
Neil was 18 years old when he moved to London, where he played in several bands and worked as a jewelry salesman. He couldn’t sustain a successful professional musical career there and returned to Canada to work with his father.
Neil then joined the Hush band, and in 1974, he joined Rush, where his professional musical career began to take off.
Neil Peart went on the band’s first tour less than two weeks after joining; they went on a US tour, and it was fantastic. Then, in addition to touring constantly, he began writing for them, and his first album with Rush was released in 1975, titled “Fly by Night,” and the following year, they released “Caress of Steel.” When Neil Peart’s daughter died, he told the band members he was retiring, took some time off, and then returned to the band. Neil Peart announced his retirement in 2015, citing his advanced age and a number of health issues.
Neil Peart had also worked on two albums for Buddy Rich and performed with him on a few occasions. He has written several books, including “Far And Wide,” “Clockwork Lives,” and “Clockwork Angels: The Graphic Novel.”
