Neil Currey Obituary: According to an Instagram post by his former coach Milos Sarcev, Neil Currey died at the age of 34. Sarcev posted on Twitter, “Absolutely surprising, heartbreaking news – that my former athlete @neil_currey died today…He killed himself.
“My last/best memory of him was this happy face after he won the New York Pro and realized his lifelong ambition of qualifying for the Mr. Olympia.”
“I’m at a loss for words and overwhelmed by pain and sadness.” My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and loved ones. Neil, may God bless your soul.”
This comes just days after the death of famed women’s professional bodybuilder Lisa Lyon, who died at the age of 70 following a battle with cancer.
How did Neil Currey die?
No official confirmation of Currey’s death has been given yet. Milos Sarcev, a former coach and fellow bodybuilding great, disclosed the athlete’s demise. Sarcev called Currey’s death as “heartbreaking” in an online memorial.

Neil Currey was a professional bodybuilder and fitness fanatic from the United Kingdom. According to the bodybuilding website Generation Iron, he was born and reared in the United Kingdom.
Neil began weightlifting in his adolescence while playing football at school. He gradually changed his concentration to bodybuilding, following a stringent gym and nutrition routine.
Neil Currey competed in the pro muscular category at the 2017 World Championships and finished fifth. His career took a big turn the following year when he won first place at the NPC Worldwide Amateur Olympia Italy, earning him his Pro Card.
