Nancy Kovack Childhood
Nancy Kovack was born in the city of Flint, Michigan. Her father was the plant manager at a General Motors facility. She enrolled at the University of Michigan at the age of 15 and graduated at the age of 19. She was an active competitor in beauty pageants, winning eight titles by the age of 20.
Nancy Kovack Husband, Marriage
Nancy Kovack married Indian director Zubin Mehta, who was the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s music manager and later the New York Philharmonic’s music director. After her career ended, Kovack filed a lawsuit against McDougal for alleged misappropriation. McDougal was tried on all twelve charges in 1998.
Susan McDougal, who was involved in the Whitewater scandal, worked as Kovack’s personal representative in the early 1990s. McDougal’s suit for malicious pursuit in 1999 resulted in a settlement. Kovack and Mehta lived in an apartment in Munich, Germany, where Mehta was music director of the Bavarian State Opera.
Career
After attending a wedding in New York City, Kovack became interested in acting. She began her career as a model before becoming one of Jackie Gleason’s Glee Girls. She has appeared in a number of television shows, including three episodes of Star Trek Bewitched (as Darrin Stephens’ ex-girlfriend and Samantha’s nemesis, Sheila Sommers, and Italian client Clio Vanita), Batman Dream of Jeannie, Get Smart, Perry Mason, 12 O’Clock High, and
Burke’s Law, Family Affair (episode “Family Plan” (1968)), The Name of the Game, and Hawaii Five-O (episode “Face of the Dragon.” She played a sexy native medicine woman and femme fatale in “A Private Little War,” one of the most sobering original Star Trek episodes.
She was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Single Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for her work on Mannix in 1969.
