On September 7, 2022, Amazon Prime Video released the official trailer for My Policeman, which gives a glimpse into the complicated and interesting life of protagonist Tom Burgess. The 2-minute trailer effectively defines the film’s basic storyline.

My Policeman

Tom Burgess is a police officer who is married to a teacher. He is, however, in love with another guy called Patrick, which complicates matters. The teaser has a melancholy tone that lovers of sad romance movies will undoubtedly like. Along with the trailer, Prime Video posted the film’s official description on their YouTube page, which reads:

“My Policeman is a brilliantly produced narrative of forbidden love and shifting social norms that follow three young people – police officer Tom (Harry Styles), teacher Marion (Emma Corrin), and museum curator Patrick (David Dawson) – as they embark on an emotional journey in 1950s Britain.”

The description goes on to say:

“Flashing ahead to the 1990s, Tom (Linus Roache), Marion (Gina McKee), and Patrick (Rupert Everett) are still filled with desire and remorse, but they now have one final opportunity to mend the harm done by the past. Director Michael Grandage carves a visually stunning, heart-stopping portrayal of three individuals caught up in the changing tides of history, liberty, and forgiveness based on Bethan Roberts’s novel.¬†Fans should expect a very emotional love tale based on the teaser and narrative. The images are magnificent, giving the picture a nostalgic and tragic feel.

The novel on which the film is based was released in 2012 and gained widespread praise from reviewers and readers alike, with many applauding Roberts’ evocative writing and characterization.
