Mos Def was born in Brooklyn, New York City on December 11, 1973, Abdullah Rahman and Sheron Smith were his parents. Twelve of his offspring, including stepchildren, are under his care. His upbringing was in Brooklyn. His father remained in New Jersey, so he stayed with his mother.
