In the middle of the spreading epidemic, Roland Emmerich‘s next big-budget catastrophe film, Moonfall, has apparently abandoned plans for a theater premiere in Canada. Emmerich has created a reputation for himself in Hollywood’s sci-fi catastrophe genre, having directed masterpieces such as 1996’s Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow (2004), 2012 (2009), and White House Down (2013). His most recent masterwork, which was filmed in Montreal in 2020, is going to be released theatrically.

The sci-fi will finally visit cinemas throughout the United States on February 4 after multiple delays due to the epidemic. However, the film will not be distributed in Canadian cinemas. The film’s theatrical premiere in Canada has been canceled, according to distributor Mongrel Media, owing to the uncertainty surrounding theater closures.
