Biography and Early Life

Mitzi Shore was born Lillian Saidel in Marinette, Wisconsin on 25th July 1930. Shore was born into a Jewish family, and as such, she has undoubtedly practiced the Jewish religion. Fanny and Morris Saidel are Shore’s parents. Morris Saidel is a salesman who travels. She was raised in the Green Bay area of Wisconsin.

Shore attended Green Bay East High School. She enrolled at the University of Wisconsin–Madison to continue her studies. The comedian was studying art at the time but dropped out to marry Sammy Shore after meeting him in 1950.

Death

Unfortunately, Mitzi Shore died while still in hospital care due to an unknown neurological illness. This occurred on 11th April 2018 in Los Angeles, at the age of 87. In 1990, the businesswoman was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The doctors at the Los Angeles Hospital made it abundantly clear that her death was caused by the same illness she was battling.

She rejected paying for her club’s comics.

She said the venue was a “college of comedy” where performers learned skills, not a money-making venture. After the club’s 1979 expansion, talented players promised to be paid. She disagreed, so the comedians surrounded her like a six-week strike. After months of protests and a car accident, she agreed to pay Leno $15 for each set.

The entrepreneur turned “The Comedy Store’s” upstairs into the Belly Room in 1978. All 50 seats are dedicated to female comedians. In the same era, qualified comedy was a “guys’ club” with few women. Female stand-up comics weren’t considered for gigs with top U.S. comics. Her wonderful, fearless brilliance lasted years.

In the 1990s, she reintroduced herself to her audience by sponsoring Latino, gay, and lesbian comedic evenings. She founded Comedy Channel in 1982. Shore advised James Blancarte and sued HBO for copyright. The channel merged with Ha! after two years.
