Missy Franklin Biography
Missy Franklin was born on May 10, 1995, in Pasadena, California, but her family later relocated to Centennial, Colorado. When she was five years old, she began taking swimming lessons to become more comfortable around water. Taurus is her astrological sign. When she was seven years old, she joined the Colorado Stars travel swim team and discovered her passion for swimming. She competed in the 2008 US Olympic Team Trials at the age of thirteen but did not make the team.

Regarding her profession, Missy Franklin began swimming nationally and internationally at a young age. She won her first international medal at Dubai’s 2010 FINA Short Course World Championships. Missy won four NCAA titles in college.
Missy won three NCAA swimming and diving titles in 2015. 2011 World Aquatics Championships in Shanghai: 3 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze. She broke her own national record in the 200-meter backstroke at 2:05:10.
Franklin finished fourth in the 200-meter individual medley and 12th in the 50-meter freestyle at the 2011 National Championships. At the 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup, she broke Shiho Sakai’s 2:00.13 200-meter backstroke record. At Duel in the Pool 2011, she set another world record in 3:45.56.
She qualified for seven Olympic events. Missy won the 200-meter and 100-meter backstroke at the 2012 Olympics. She placed second in the 200- and 100-meter freestyles.
