Micheal Haley began his professional career on May 19, 2008, when he signed a two-way contract with the New York Islanders. He made his NHL debut with the Islanders against the New Jersey Devils on April 10, 2010 (at the conclusion of the 2009-10 season). Haley later signed a two-year deal with the Islanders’ rival, the New York Rangers, as a free agent on July 1, 2012. He spent two seasons with the organization. He signed a one-year, two-way free agency deal with the San Jose Sharks on July 10, 2014.
In his third season with the Sharks, he played his first full season in the NHL in 2016-17, collecting a career-high 2 goals, 10 assists, and 12 points in 58 games while leading the Sharks in penalty minutes with 128. Haley departed the Sharks as a free agent on July 1, 2017, and signed a two-year, $1.65 million deal with the Florida Panthers.
