Michael Garret Shanks was born in In Canada’s British Columbia province, Vancouver. He spent four years in the BFA acting program and later had multiple theatrical appearances after completing a two-year apprenticeship at the famed Stratford Festival in Ontario.
He made cameo appearances on TV shows like Highlander and University Hospital during this time, as well as in the television film A Family Divided and, finally, a small role in The Call of the Wild. On Stargate SG-1, he was chosen for the Daniel Jackson role.
