Michael Richards, who played Cosmo Kramer on Seinfeld, is still remembered by fans of the program. Following the series’ completion in 1998, Richards appeared in some films and television programs, including David Copperfield (2000) and The Michael Richards Show (2000). During the early 2000s, though, he was most recognized for his stand-up comedy. In 2007, he retired from stand-up comedy a year after being caught on tape using racist insults. He has since pulled away from the limelight and prefers to spend his time away from public attention. However, Richards and his wife, Beth Skipp, made news in April 2021 when they reportedly hacked down their neighbor’s 30-year-old trees.
Michael Richards and his wife were sued for chopping down their neighbor’s trees.
Maxine Adams, a neighbor, was suing Richards and his wife for chopping trees on her Pacific Palisades property on April 2, 2021. The actor and his wife “maliciously chopped mature Brazilian Pepper Trees and underbrush” on Adams’ property, according to TMZ. Adams alleged that Richards and Skipp felled her 30-year-old trees despite knowing they didn’t have her permission to “substantially raise the value of their property by increasing their view to the Pacific Ocean.” Adams went on to say that if she wanted to restore the aesthetic of her land, she needed to plant smaller trees. And the new trees would take 20 years to reach the height of the old ones. The operation would cost more than $62,000. She was suing Richards for that sum and at least another $200,000 for her property’s loss of aesthetic value.
Michael Richards and his wife
Beth Skipp has been married since 2002. The husband and wife have kept their relationship covert, and nothing is known about how they met. Richards and Skip married in 2010 after being together for around eight years. They have one kid together, a boy named Antonio Baz Richards. Richards and his girlfriend, like their personal lives, have kept their kid out of the public glare. Antonio was first seen in public at the Los Angeles International Airport in December 2013. In January 2021, their three-person family was spotted out on a stroll with their dog.
Michael Richards Racist Outburst
Richards has maintained a low profile since his racist rant in 2006, for which he has subsequently apologized, sparked a media frenzy. He was doing a stand-up performance at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood when he lost his cool and yelled racist obscenities at a heckler.
Richards discussed the event with Jerry Seinfeld on the program Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee in 2012. “That’s a lesson I learned… when I messed up at the comedy club,” he said. “I lost my cool when someone stopped my performance and shouted some hurtful things to me, and I retaliated in rage.” Richards described his reaction as “selfish,” adding that the episode had torn him down. He also praised Seinfeld for his public support.
