His Father was killed during practice for this event. Dunlop competed in the Classic Superbike race at the Manx GP on Friday, August 31. At the 2012 Manx Grand Prix, he won the Classic Superbike event. This was his sixth Mountain Course championship and third Manx Grand Prix victory after winning the 2006 Newcomers MGP. Dunlop worked in the 600 Junior Race pits for a team during the two-week 2012 Manx GP.
