Shaun White is a former snowboarder and skateboarder from San Diego, California. His parents, Cathy and Roger, gave birth to him there. Shaun hails from a family of three siblings, the youngest of whom he is. His mother, Cathy, worked as a waitress, while his father, who had a surfing background, worked at the water department in San Clemente, California. Shaun’s elder brother, Jesse White, who is seven years his senior, had an important part in his life by teaching him how to snowboard. Shaun White went from skiing to snowboarding when he was six years old, inspired by his elder brother Jesse White’s route.
He obtained his first sponsorship by the time he was seven years old. Throughout his career, White participated in five Winter Olympics, capturing three Olympic gold medals in the snowboard halfpipe event in 2006, 2010, and 2018. He owns the global record for the most X Games gold medals and the most Olympic gold medals among snowboarders, and his reputation is well-deserved. Roger White, Shaun White’s father, used to work for the San Clemente water department, according to The New York Times. He was raised in Coronado, California, and enjoyed surfing at Imperial Beach and Del Mar. He spent a lot of time surfing in Santa Cruz, California after graduating from Coronado High School and attending Monterey Peninsula College. Roger had hoped that Shaun would follow in his footsteps and become a surfer, but Shaun took his path and ended up making a successful career doing what he liked.
Cathy White, White’s mother, was opposed to snowboarding. Shaun started skiing and snowboarding at a young age, following in his brother’s footsteps. However, his mother, Cathy, was opposed to the Sports because she was concerned that Shaun might get gravely wounded. Furthermore, Shaun was born with a congenital cardiac condition known as Tetralogy of Fallot, which required him to endure two open-heart operations before the age of one. Cathy was worried about his decision to pursue snowboarding as a profession because of his health difficulties. However, she eventually accepted his desire and supported his path. She’s now his greatest fan, constantly rooting for him and offering her undying support.
His Brother Jesse Is the First One Who Taught Him How to Skateboard
Jesse White, Shaun White’s brother, was the one who first introduced him to skateboarding. Shaun followed in his elder brother’s footsteps and became a very excellent snowboarder. Despite his childhood love of snowboarding, Jesse currently works as the creative director at Whitespace by Shaun White. The gifted young guy is now a married man with two boys. On October 13, 2018, he married Dominique Alexandra White.
