Meet Lilia Vu Parents, Douglas Vu And Kieu Thuy: Family & Ethnicity Details

Lilia Vu

Lilia Vu is a professional golfer. She was born in the United States to Douglas Vu and Kieu Thuy, however, her family has Asian ancestors. She is the second of two children born to Vietnamese-American parents. Lilia’s father, Douglas, is an American from California, but her mother immigrated to the United States with her family in the 1980s to escape war-torn Vietnam.

Vu is aware of what her parents and grandparents accomplished in the past to ensure a brighter future for their family. She recalled this after receiving the 2023 Chevron Championship trophy in April of this year, and she honored her late grandpa. Lilia Kha-Tu Du Vu, commonly known as Lilia Vu, is an American golfer who began playing at a young age due to her father’s influence. She went on to play golf for Fountain Valley High School, where she was coached by Carter Keyser.

After graduation, she enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she studied Political Science while still competing on her collegiate golf team. Lilia went professional in 2019 after leaving UCLA following her junior season. Two years later, she won three Symetra Tour championships and rose to the top 250 in the Women’s Golf World Rankings.

Lilia Vu  Parents: Douglas Vu and Kieu Thuy

Lilia Vu was born on October 14, 1997, in Fountain Valley, California, to Douglas Vu and Yvonne Kieu Thuy. Yvonne Kieu Thuy, Douglas and Lilia’s mother, married on February 9, 1991. Douglas, her father, has been a golf teacher at David L. Thuy’s family had hoped for a better life after the war, but her father, Dinh Du, became gloomy. They eventually fled the nation on a boat in 1982 and landed in the United States. Lilia now has American citizenship and competes for the US in international events. Her mother still misses Vietnam, and they go there on occasion to see family who live there.
