Jayden Maiava’s parents, William and Jerushua Maiava, are Hawaii natives. The couple had eight children, one of whom is the nation’s most sought-after college quarterback. Jayden grasped the chance with both hands when it presented itself. He started the season as Doug Brumfield’s backup quarterback at UNLV. But, once Brumfield was defeated by Vanderbilt, Maiva took advantage of the situation.
He stepped into the starting lineup and guided the team to its first Mountain West Conference championship game. The quarterback has 2,626 passing yards, 14 touchdowns, and six interceptions during the regular season. Maiava was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year and has promised Rebel supporters that he will be back in 2024. UNLV has had a terrific first-year turnaround season under Barry Odom, and Maiava wants to stay with the team.

William And Jerushua Maiava raised eight children, including Jayden Maiava. The family is originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, but migrated to Las Vegas when Jayden was 13 years old. When he was just six years old, the boy knew exactly what he wanted to be. He’d tell his father he wanted to be an NFL player, and his parents would allow him.
Jayden started as a receiver, but his father told him to convert to quarterback when they first came to Vegas. Jayden has already discussed his family life in depth in an interview. Not only were his parents committed in his footballing ambitions. His uncle, Keone, led him to summer camps and advised him to start as a receiver. His aunt and grandmother on both sides also played important roles. Jayden is the youngest member of a close-knit family. They are also very devout, with Jayden constantly praising God first and foremost for where he has come in his life.
Jayden’s parents, William and Jerushua, have a Facebook page together. They have posted multiple family photos on their social media account, the most recent being in October. Jayden has 2k followers on Instagram but hasn’t posted anything. Many university players now have to have a strong social media presence, but it doesn’t seem like Jayden is concerned with what occurs off the field.
Maiava’s Career Journey So Far
Jayden Maiava began his football career in Hawaii, but it was in Las Vegas that he began to get noticed. Sierra Vista High School was where he started his freshman year of high school. In 2019, he returned to Hawaii to play for Kaimuki High School, where he threw for 3,317 yards and 41 touchdowns. Jayden moved back to Las Vegas for his final year of high school and enrolled at Liberty High School.
He led the team to the state championship, throwing for 2,027 yards and 24 touchdowns. Maiava was named to the all-league first team during his stint with Liberty. The teenager revealed his commitment to UNLV in 2021. Because of the coaching staff, the player selected UNLV over Auburn, Louisville, and Tennessee. He said that the coaching staff and his parents kept checking on him. Marcus Arroyo, the head coach at UNLV, was involved in the recruiting process, phoning Maiava and giving him a scholarship. Both parties have benefited from the change.
