William Byron’s father, Bill Byron, is a money management expert who formerly worked for the Falwell family. Unlike his son, William has no racing experience. In an interview, William said that his father had only raced in the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Kathryn, William’s sister, has followed in her father’s footsteps and now works in finance.
On Monday night, the 26-year-old ended Hendrick Motorsports’ nine-year curse by winning the Dayton 500. Dale Earnhardt Jr was the last Hendrick driver to win the Daytona 500 in 2014. Byron crossed the start/finish line and raised the white flag before NASCAR issued the sixth yellow of the evening. He and Ross Chastain of Stackhouse Racing were battling for the lead, and Byron was ahead when an accident occurred behind them.
William Byron Father: Meet Bill Byron
William Byron’s father, Bill Byron, is a financial counselor and the founder of Byron Financial LLC. He created the asset management firm in 1986 and has over 37 years of expertise in the financial services sector. He also serves as the financial adviser for Falwell’s and Liberty University, the latter of which is his son’s principal sponsor. The Byrons are pious, and Bill attends Myers Park Presbyterian Church.
Previously, in an interview, Jerry Falwell, the former President of Liberty University, said that Bill assisted his father in establishing the life insurance policy that helped Liberty pay off its debt following his death in 2007. Bill nurtured a passion for racing in his kid from an early age. When William was a boy, he and Bill would go on yearly father-son trips to tracks around the nation.
In an interview with Vice in 2018, Bill praised his little kid. Bill related his son’s virtual driving experience to the commercial idea of intellectual capital. He said that William had a very high IQ, a high degree of understanding, and the ability to learn rapidly. Bill said that nobody should take these things for granted and that his kid learns from his errors and does not repeat them too frequently.

After winning the Daytona 500, William was very emotional. This was his first Daytona 500 victory, having never finished in the top ten until Monday’s rain-delayed race. After winning the race, William approached Jamie Little. The racer said, “I’m just a kid from racing on computers and won the Daytona 500. I can’t believe this.
I wish my father was here. He is ill, yet this is for him, guy. We’ve gone through so much, and we stood up in the grandstands together to watch the race.” His mother, Dana, is active on social media, but she hasn’t mentioned her husband’s condition.

Dana Byron, William’s mother, was not thrilled with the prospect of her son becoming a racecar driver. She envisioned her kid being battered by crash debris, but she eventually grew accustomed to it. In 2021, the Byron family had one of the most terrifying events in her life. Dana complained of feeling unwell at the Martinsville Speedway event and went to the local hospital in Martinsville.
Dana suffered a “mini-stroke” and was transported to the hospital in time, according to the diagnosis. Dana was diagnosed with MALT Lymphoma, a rare but curable type of cancer that only affected the left side of her brain. However, after many months of therapy, the physicians were able to remove the tumor, and Dana felt much better. Dana is on Facebook, although she is not particularly active, posting just a few images.
William also has a deep relationship with his sister, Kathryn Byron. Previously, in an interview, William said that his sister is not a huge racing enthusiast. Kathryn, William’s sister, graduated from Vanderbilt University and earned an MBA from Columbia Business School last year. She is an investor with SCOR Ventures and a former member of Future Positive’s MBA Investment team.
In an interview, when asked who he would want to have in his passenger seat during a NASCAR race, William said his father or sister, Kathryn. He stated he’d like to have Kathryn in his passenger seat so she can enjoy being in the vehicle for a race, even if she doesn’t know anything about it.
