Maureen Tigrett was a hairdresser from Liverpool, England, and the first wife of Ringo Starr, the drummer for the Beatles. She met Starr while working as a trainee hairdresser in Liverpool at The Cavern Club, where the Beatles performed. On January 20, 1965, Starr proposed marriage at the Ad Lib Club in London.
They married in 1965 at the Caxton Hall Register Office in London and divorced in 1975. The Starrs first lived at 34 Montagu Square in Marylebone before purchasing Sunny Heights on St George’s Hill, Weybridge. They purchased Tittenhurst Park from John Lennon in 1973.
