Nunes was born in Rio de Janeiro to a Portuguese father and a Brazilian mother. He was reared in Brazil until the age of 12, when he relocated to Ericeira, Lisbon District, with his mother and stepfather in search of a better chance. Nunes’s childhood was difficult because his father was absent and he was raised by a single mother. His mother, Catia, whom he regards as a fighter, reared him, working day and night. There was a time when they didn’t have food on the table. Nunes describes his mother as a fighter who instilled in him a passion for football and with whom he received his first touches. Nunes worked at Bakery for six months after moving to Portugal. He stood on his feet for five to six hours a day and went to training in the evening. Nunes began his career at Ericeirense and quickly attracted the attention of big teams all around Europe. After two seasons at Ericeirense, he moved to Estoril before joining Sporting CP in 2019, where he won the Primeira Liga and Taca de Liga double.
