Nunes was born in Rio de Janeiro to a Portuguese father and a Brazilian mother. He was reared in Brazil until the age of 12, when he relocated to Ericeira, Lisbon District, with his mother and stepfather in search of a better chance. Nunes’s childhood was difficult because his father was absent and he was raised by a single mother. His mother, Catia, whom he regards as a fighter, reared him, working day and night.
