Marcelo Claure was born in Guatemala on December 9, 1970. His father worked as a geologist for the United Nations diplomatic service. Because of the nature of his father’s work, his family was forced to relocate. When he was two years old, his family relocated to Morocco. He spent his childhood in La Paz, Bolivia, after his parents relocated from Morocco to the Dominican Republic.

Marcelo has attended a number of schools. He attended Instituto Domingo Savio before transferring to American Cooperative School, where he graduated. He went on to attend the University of Lowell before transferring to Bentley College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance. He also studied at Bentley University, where he received a Doctorate of Commercial Sciences.
