Lexi Thompson will be one of just seven women to participate on the PGA Tour. Thompson will compete at the Shriners Children’s Open in Las Vegas. Thompson hopes to motivate young women to follow their aspirations despite obstacles by using her performance and ability to compete with males as an example. Lexi is the only woman to participate in the PGA Tour tournament, joining Babe Zaharias, the “Woman Athlete of the 20th Century,” Shirley Sport, Annika Sorenstam, Suzey Whaley, Michelle Wie West, and Brittany Lincicome. The 29-year-old was inspired by those who came before her and plans to take inspiration from them in the future.
She also expressed gratitude to the Shriners Children for the chance. Thompson also thanked Shriners Children for their support of all children with impairments, regardless of gender. Thompson was also ecstatic to go to Las Vegas and be inspired by the youngsters attending the event.
