Leslie Jones Says She May No Longer Live Tweet And Review The Olympics

Leslie Jones

Leslie Jones, a former Saturday Night Live cast member, has said that she is reconsidering her live tweeting, live recapping, and video narration of the Olympic events. The celebrity has been live-tweeting and reviewing the recent Summer and Winter Olympics.

It seems that the 2022 Beijing Olympics will be the last opportunity for fans to view the celebrity and her impassioned comments online. The former Saturday Night Live cast member expressed “frustration” that her commentary videos were being removed. Fans were outraged by what happened to Leslie Jones and flocked to social media to vent their displeasure.

Leslie Jones has said that she may no longer live tweet and review the Olympics.

She expressed how difficult it got for her to live tweet or narrate when her videos were prohibited in an Instagram post. She alluded to NBC when she stated she was weary of battling those who didn’t want her to live tweet the events and ended up censoring her recordings.

The former Saturday Night Live actress said that she recognized athletes and the general public enjoyed what she was doing, but it was becoming too difficult for her. She further emphasized on Twitter that the ones causing her problems are not hate comments or trolls, but NBC themselves. She discussed her enthusiasm for what she does in another of her Instagram commentary videos.

Jones also asked fans to contact NBC, which has included Snoop Dogg and Kevin Hart recaps in their Peacock coverage of the 2022 Beijing Olympics, but not Leslie. Holly Robinson Peete, an actress, responded in this discussion, saying:

“Yeah, your commentary is fantastic, and you should be doing it on Peacock like Snoop and Kev!”
Jones answered with:

“Do you believe Kevin and Snoop care about athletes and the Olympics?” To be honest, I believe this is my last one. It’s infuriating.

Leslie’s admirers show their support for the actor.

Fans flocked to social media to voice their support for Leslie Jones as well as their displeasure with the situation. Fans believed they learned so much from Leslie Jones’ Instagram postings that they didn’t need to watch the game itself. Some followers said that it was again another effort to stifle Black women and Black voices. During the 2016 Summer Olympics, NBC sent Jones to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to cover beach volleyball, track & field, swimming, and gymnastics. She had already been to South Korea to cover the 2018 Winter Olympics.
