Ricardo Emmanuel Brown was born on October 23, 1972. His birthplace was Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sharon Hill Brown and Jomax Collins are his mother and father, respectively. He grew up with his brother, Roscoe, who is also a well-known rapper in America. Throughout his childhood, his entire family lived in Philadelphia.
Kurupt is also a cousin of the well-known rapper Redrum781. He left Philadelphia for California when he was sixteen, settling in the Hawthorne neighborhood. Kurupt moved to South Los Angeles two years later and found a place in the Crenshaw District. He used to listen to rap songs and practice rapping when he was younger.
