She started her career in journalism in the late 1990s, when she joined ABC station WLNE-TV in Providence, Rhode Island. She was employed there for numerous years. She later joined KRCR-TV in Redding/Chico, California, in 2001. She stayed there for a few years until 2003 when she became a reporter for WLNE-ABC6 News. Kristen also worked here for two years before leaving in 2005. She began working as an anchor and reporter for NBC 10 affiliate WCAU in 2005.
She was a reporter and weekend anchor there for approximately a half-decade, until 2009. Kristen then became a reporter for NBC News in 2009, working at the NBC Universal News West Coast Headquarters in Burbank, California.
