Kordell Stewart is a former American football player who spent 11 seasons in the National Football League (NFL), mostly with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He attended Colorado University and is most known for the “Miracle at Michigan,” a Hail Mary pass he completed to upset Michigan in 1994. He was given the moniker ‘Slash’ because his ability to play numerous positions other than quarterback, including wide receiver, running back, punter, and kick returner.

Kordell Steward received his education at John Ehret High School in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. In 1991, he was awarded a scholarship to the University of Colorado.   • Kordell Stewart began his football career as a quarterback with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1997.
  • He led the Steelers to an 11–5 record to the AFC Championship Game, which they lost to the Denver Broncos in his first season as a starting quarterback in the NFL.
  • In a 24–21 loss against the Denver Broncos, he threw three interceptions (two of which were in the opposition end zone) and lost a fumble, accounting for all four Steeler turnovers. Stewart was called in to fill in for Graham after he injured his hip.
