King Diamond Biography
Kim Bendix Petersen was born on June 14, 1956, in Copenhagen, Denmark. King began his career with a two-year-old band called Brainstorm. He included vocalist Jeanette Blum as well as guitarist Michael Frohn. Diamond left the brainstorm band after two years and joined a Danish hard rock band to sing locally. He experimented with a malevolent quasi-satanic stage persona in the band.
Following a brief stint with the local band, King joined the punk-metal band Brats, where he met Hank Sherman, who later assisted Michael Denner with his project. Later, the musicians came together to form the Mercyful Fate band.
Many sources attribute his religious beliefs to Laveran Satanism. Diamond recently stated that he had given up on believing in anything spiritual because it was difficult for him to prove the absence or presence of any deity logically.
