Authorities in Philadelphia say a well-known LGBTQ+ activist raped two young boys, leading to her arrest on Monday. The news of arrests is all over the internet. Kendall Stephens, 37, is the target of claims made by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office. Stephens allegedly sexually molested two youngsters under the age of thirteen. The details of the probe have not been made public. Among the charges are rape, indecent assault on a person under the age of 13, illegal contact with minor sexual crimes, and endangering the welfare of minors (parent or guardian).
The judge put her bail at $250,000, and her next court hearing is December 29. If there is a controversy in the case, the AG’s office will occasionally take over the local district attorney’s case. The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office told Action News, “We have no comment as the investigation into the allegations against her is being led by another agency.”

She believes that a violent group has targeted her because she is transgender. Following that, Stephens grew in popularity as a champion for the LGBTQ+ community, urging Pennsylvania lawmakers to change the state’s hate crimes statute to include measures protecting LGBTQ+ people.
Action News was there as Stephens and a few other activists stood with District Attorney Larry Krasner to help launch the LGBTQ+ Advisory Board in 2021. The board was formed, among other things, to act as a community resource for crime victims and survivors.
Kendall Stevens’ Personal Life Details
Stevens is balancing a hectic schedule of community work and school as she nears the end of her associate degree in mental health/human services. She serves on the advisory boards of many organizations, including the William Way LGBTQ Community Center, the Mazzoni LGBTQ Health Center, and the LGBTQ Center at CCP. Since 2015, Stevens has been a co-facilitator of TransWay, a weekly support group for trans and gender-nonconforming people at William Way.
Stephens received the organization’s New Emerging Leader Award in October of last year. As an intern at Morris Home, a treatment clinic in Southwest Philadelphia for trans and gender nonconforming persons struggling with addiction, she also runs support groups and assists with yoga classes.
