Rapper Kee Riches, who was recently shot in Compton, California, died on September 24. Unfortunately, the artist was just 23 years old when he died.
Ice-T tweeted on the city’s escalating gun violence:
“If you notice, LA rappers don’t wear a lotta jewelry.” Me, Snoop, Cube, Dre, Game, and Kendrick. The list goes on and on. It’s not because we’re broke. Rapper or not, LA is a dangerous city. Why put yourself out there?”
More details about the death of Kee Riches
At about 9:00 p.m., the rapper was shot on the 14th block of South Chester Avenue. According to sources, officers responded to a report about a shooting victim and saw Riches critically wounded when they arrived. The event wounded two additional persons, including a 29-year-old male named Robert Leflore Jr. and a lady whose identity is unknown. The lady was hospitalized and survived, but the other two, including Riches, were declared dead at the scene. Any proof linking the individuals or the motivation for the crime is yet unclear. Given the number of events involving rappers in recent months, it is possible that it was a robbery, although investigators have yet to confirm this.
All About Kee Riches
Kee Riches spent most of his youth on Compton’s Westside. He was a passionate sports fan who began rapping at the age of 15 or 16, and he also founded the ‘Get Rich’ apparel line and record company. His affection for the Compton neighborhood was obvious, as he was continually striving for the town’s progress. When asked about it, he once said:
“A lot of people usually tell me that I distinguish myself [by] helping my neighborhood, that you don’t really see a lot of artists and young guys coming up actually wanting to give back or assist their community when they don’t really have anything.” “I have something to offer, therefore I’d want to give something.”
Riches used to give bags to students over the summer before they entered school, as well as presents at Christmas. His mentality was sometimes likened to that of Nipsey Hussle, who died in 2019. Riches said after Hussle’s death that his greatest regret was not being able to meet Hussle. During an interview with L.A. TACO, he stated:
“Nipsey Hussle embodied a street soldier, a true hustler.” He was that guy as a man, a parent, and a hustler.”
