Kathleen Genevieve Ledecky, better known as Katie Ledecky, is an American competitive swimmer who won the 800m gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics at the age of 15, with the second-fastest performance ever. She began swimming lessons at the age of six and later joined the Nation’s Capital Swim Club. Katie set a new national record in the 800-meter freestyle at the London Olympics in 2012.
