Karin Harjo was born in Norway to Norwegian parents. Her family exposed her to skiing as a child when she was beginning to walk. Karin became a ski coach and athlete at an early age after becoming involved with skiing. Career
Karin Harjo began serving as the Western Area Ski Instructor in 2011. She was the Western Area Ski Instructor until 2015. She then worked as a Women’s Ski Instructor from 2015 to 2012. Harjo worked for US Ski & Snowboard in both of these capacities. She became the Chief Women’s Alpine Instructor of Alpine Canada Alpin in April 2022, where she is presently employed.
Karin announced in March 2023 that she will commence teaching athlete Mikaela Shiffrin after quitting her position as Alpine Canada Women’s National Director. She is still the only female Chief Director in the World Cup series and only the second in history.
