Justin Bieber has postponed a handful of concerts after a virus immobilized part of his face. The music sensation said that he has Ramsay Hunt syndrome and is unable to move the paralyzed side of his face. The 28-year-old actress broke the news in a video posted on Instagram. In Justin Bieber’s video, it can be observed that he is unable to move the paralyzed area of his face. The side-eye is not blinking, and the lips are not moving. As a result, Justin closes by stating that he has to relax till he returns to work.

As he postponed previous tours and shows in Toronto, Washington, DC, and New York, Justin Bieber got several comments from anxious fans, prompting him to take to social media to announce his health. In addition, he stated:

“So, for those who are disappointed by my cancellations of the upcoming gigs, I’m just not physically capable of performing them. As you can see, this is a terrible situation.”

Justin Bieber discusses his inability to move his face muscles.

Justin Bieber tries and fails to blink and grin in the three-minute video. The illness has paralyzed one side of Justin’s face, preventing it from reacting. Justin Bieber has also requested his followers to pray for him since he is unable to eat due to paralysis. He said:

“It’s been growing more difficult to eat, which has been really irritating; please pray for me.”

However, Justin claimed in the video message that he is on total rest and has been doing different face exercises given by the doctor in order to return to normalcy as soon as possible. He has been instructed to cancel all tours and concerts till he improves. He also adds that he has no idea how long it will take him to recover.

What exactly is Ramsay Hunt Syndrome?

The Grammy Award-winning music artist suffers from a unique illness in which the Shingles virus destroys one of the facial nerves near the ear. The varicella-zoster virus is also responsible for chickenpox. When the virus enters the body, it causes nerve inflammation and swelling, resulting in facial paralysis on that side. Other symptoms include extreme eye discomfort, a painful rash, probable hearing loss, and facial paralysis, which causes an inability to shut one eye while making motions and expressions, as shown in Justin’s video. While these changes in the body may be transient, the illness may continue for many months or years, with some damage being permanent.
