On August 18, actress Josephine Tewson died at the age of 91. Her representative, Jean Diamond, broke the news. Tewson died at Denville Hall in North London, a care facility for actors and other members of the entertainment business, according to Diamond. The actress’s cause of death is unclear, and further information about her funeral will be released shortly.

Between 1990 and 1995, Josephine Tewson played Elizabeth Warden in the BBC1 comedy Keeping Up Appearances. The character was Hyacinth’s pleasant and understanding neighbor who resided at Blossom Avenue 24, number 24. Hyacinth refers to her as Elizabeth, however, she is often referred to as Liz throughout the episode. Elizabeth’s brother Emmett takes her position in season two of the series. Despite her brother’s demands, Liz accepts Hyacinth’s repeated invites to coffee. Liz also sympathizes with Hyacinth, who is reviled by everyone and is Hyacinth’s sole friend.
Liz is married to Mr. Warden, who is away throughout the series, despite the fact that her family is seldom shown. It was then disclosed that he worked overseas since the couple was experiencing marital problems. Liz also has a daughter called Gail, who does not appear in the show. She was born to professional musician William and nurse Kate as Josephine Ann Tewson. She attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after graduating high school and graduated in 1952. Tewson began his career in sketch comedies such as David Frost on Sunday and Hark at Barker, before moving on to a BBC Radio Comedy program. She featured in other series such as Z-Cars and The Charlie Drake Show, as well as sitcoms such as Shelley and Clarence. Tewson went on to act in the ITV series Odd Man Out and the children’s film Gabrielle and the Doodleman in 1984. She rose to prominence as a result of her performance in Keeping Up Appearances. She later appeared on programs such as Last of the Summer Wine, Comedy Connections, and The Two Ronnies.
Heartbeat, Midsomer Murders, and Doctors all featured Josephine. During the 1980s and 1990s, she played a schoolteacher in an advertisement for Sugar Puffs I Want My Honey and a commercial for Nabisco Fruit Newtons in 1997. She also debuted her performance, Still Keeping Up Appearances?, in 2012 and toured it around the United Kingdom till 2019.
