In 2010, he qualified for the PGA Tour at Qualifying School. He was one of two African-American golfers on the PGA Tour in 2011, along with Tiger Woods. Since 1985, he has been the first black golfer to graduate from the PGA Tour’s qualifying school. In 2011, he missed 12 of 25 cuts, finished 196th on the money list, lost his Tour card, and eventually joined the Web.com Tour. In 2012, he finished in 28th place. He completed the 252-hole PGA Qualifying School gantlet on December 6, 2010, winning all three stages by two strokes to earn his tour card.
He got his sea legs with a birdie on the fourth hole of the PGA Tour qualifying tournament in Orlando, Florida, before righting the ship with five consecutive birdies from holes 8-12. Furthermore, he shot a 4-under 68 in the final round to move up 17 places on the leaderboard and secure his card by two shots at 11-under total.
