José Rómulo Sosa Ortiz was born on February 17, 1948, . He entered this world in Clavera, Azcapotzalco, Mexico City. He held American citizenship while practicing Christianity as a result of this. Furthermore, his zodiac sign was Aquarius.
Moving on, he was born to his father, José Sosa Esquivel, and his mother, Margarita Ortiz. His father was a classical pianist and his mother was an operatic tenor. He had a younger brother as well. Career
When he was fifteen, his mother gave him his first piano. While still in his teens, he learned to play the guitar and sang in church, and serenaded his neighborhood friends for extra money. He made a breakthrough in his artistic career when he was asked to play a song at a friend’s sister’s birthday party. He signed with RCA Victor and released his debut album, “José José.”
In early 1970, he released his second album, La Nave Del Olvido, and the song “La nave del olvido,” which became his first huge hit in Mexico and Latin America. José got his big break on March 15, 1970. José José’s 1970s singles included “De Pueblo en Pueblo,” “Hasta Que Vuelvas,” “Déjame Conocerte,” “Sentimientos,” “Paloma,” and “Gavilan o Paloma.” Among José José’s successful albums were Amor Amor (1980), Romántico (1981), Gracias (1981), and Mi Vida (1981). The previous album sold over 1.5 million copies in Latin America.
In 1985, he performed a duet with Puerto Rican singer José Feliciano on the song “Por Ella” (“For Her”) from Feliciano’s album Ya Soy Tuyo (1985), which was also nominated for a Grammy Award in the same category in 1986.
In 1990, Ral Velasco produced a special television program to commemorate José’s 25-year career. José’s vocals, on the other hand, began to deteriorate in the early 1990s. It worsened over time, and it was visible in his live performances. Due to his heavy drinking and nonstop career activities, his voice had become shaky. In August 1993, BMG held a tribute in Puerto Vallarta to commemorate José’s 30th anniversary.
In the mid-2000s, he played Erasmo Padilla in “La Fea Más Bella.” In 2007, he received a TVyNovelas Award for best supporting actor for his work in it.
