As a senior, he was selected as the 5-A regional defensive player of the year. Greenard, a three-star prospect, chose to play collegiate football at Louisville over Kentucky.

Greenard played for the Louisville Cardinals and redshirted his true freshman season. As a redshirt freshman, he was a critical reserve at linebacker, with 22 tackles (seven for loss) and 2.5 sacks, as well as two passes broken up and an interception that he returned 42 yards for a score. He earned his first career start in the 2016 Citrus Bowl, with five tackles (1.5 for loss). Greenard started for the Cardinals in his redshirt sophomore season, leading the team with 15.5 tackles and seven sacks. Greenard dislocated his wrist in the first series of his redshirt junior season opener against Alabama, forcing him to miss the whole season. He declared that he would transfer to the University of Florida after the season.
While sidelined as a redshirt junior, Greenard took additional classes to graduate a semester early, allowing him to enroll at Florida as a graduate transfer in January 2019. He was awarded the Southeastern Conference co-Defensive Lineman of the Week after recording six tackles and 1.5 sacks against Miami in his debut game as a Gator. Greenard concluded the season with 52 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, four passes defended, and one interception.
