Jon Bernthal married his wife Erin Angle in 2010. But the wedding would not have happened if it hadn’t been for musician Willie Nelson. The Walking Dead star was at a pub when he observed his friends conversing with two ladies, so he joined them and messed about until he discovered his future wife. Bernthal told Men’s Health, “I had never seen somebody so lovely.” He struck up a friendship with the young Georgetown University Hospital nurse, and they soon began dating.
He “done a lot of foolish things” as a young ignorant 20-something, and Angle dumped him and relocated to San Francisco.
To reclaim her, the actor would go up to the Bay Area and leave flowers and poetry on her vehicle. When Angle’s rage had subsided, he brought her to see Nelson at the Fillmore. The actor crept backstage, wrote a letter for the artist detailing his problem with his lady, and requested that he and Angle perform ‘Always on My Mind.’ Nelson, fortunately, did, and that night they reconciled for good.

Bernthal and his wife dated for many years before marrying. They married and established a family. In August 2011, the couple had their first child, a boy called Henry. They got their second son, Billy, almost two years later in January 2013, and their daughter, Adeline, in 2015. Bernthal landed a part in Ryan Gosling’s film First Man shortly after the birth of their daughter. However, he pulled out of the project.

Later, the actor spoke with Men’s Health about his choice. His daughter experienced an abrupt seizure and fell into a coma, which was subsequently determined to be caused by encephalitis. Adeline awoke three days later, but she didn’t know her family or friends. Bernthal said that his girlfriend responded by “pouring love into [their] daughter every step of the way.” He praised his wife for rescuing the family from the ordeal. “People speak about courage like it’s phony macho bravado, but my wife didn’t flinch,” the actor said to the tabloid. His daughter, thankfully, has recovered from the incident.

Bernthal’s schedule is obviously hard as a married guy with three children. During an interview with Insider, the actor said that he adhered to one guideline in order to combine his rigorous work schedule and find time for his family. He made certain that he was entirely focused on whatever he was doing. When he was at home with the kids, he didn’t work or use his phone.
But he gave it his all at work, hoping that his children would appreciate how hard he worked. “I try to dive in 100 percent and remain in it, and at the end of the day, I’m trying to develop something in every character that I help construct and every movie that I’m in,” the actor stated. He went on to say that every piece of art he produced was labeled with the names of his children. As a result, he took everything seriously and offered all he had. Bernthal, on the other hand, admitted that all of this was made possible by his wife, who made it all work.
