John Roy Anderson was born in Lincolnshire, England, on October 25, 1944. His parents are Kathleen and Albert Anderson. His mother worked in a cotton mill, and his father served in the army’s entertainment division. Tony, Stuart, and Joy are his siblings. Jon attended Saint John’s School and struggled academically.

Jon Anderson began his career by joining a local group called the Warriors. The band used to perform cover songs by well-known artists.
